Catherine has ‘worked’ up through the ranks at Veitch Penny having initially joined the firm as a legal secretary. She completed her legal studies whilst working and is now a qualified solicitor.
During her time at the firm she has progressed from dealing with accident related no injury claims, to running all new injury clients and then running her own road traffic case load. She also developed expertise in areas of Employers Liability, Occupiers’ Liability and Highways cases as well as Animals Act cases.
One of her recent notable cases involved acting for 60 year old plus veteran cyclist who suffered head injuries when his bike hit a pothole in the road. Unfortunately he wasn’t wearing a cycle helmet but any arguments that he was partly to blame for not wearing a helmet were curtailed. Catherine achieved a settlement of a £1.42m compensation, together with £60,000 periodical payments per year.
Catherine now mainly deals with higher value or complex claims as well as dealing with professional negligence claims and any other civil disputes or litigation.
Catherine enjoys triathlon and regularly swims, runs and cycles through the week. She also enjoys reading, cooking especially baking and crafts such as knitting.
